BRANDING & BUSINESS IDENTITY

Free, self-guided training • Build a recognizable business identity, from your name and message to colors, logo, and consistent content. Each lesson includes a practical exercise. This course provides guidance and worksheets, not an automatic logo or trademark registration.

LESSON 1 • DEFINE YOUR BRAND

Your brand is the impression people form through your message, experience, and visual style. Start by deciding who you serve, what you help with, and how you want customers to feel.

Assignment: Complete: “I help [audience] with [problem] by offering [value].” Choose three words that describe your brand.

LESSON 2 • CHOOSE A BUSINESS NAME

Look for a name that is memorable, easy to spell, relevant, and flexible as your business grows. Before using it, research business registrations, trademarks, domain names, and social handles. A name appearing available online does not guarantee legal rights.

Assignment: Brainstorm five names and shortlist two for further checks.

LESSON 3 • WRITE A TAGLINE AND BRAND PROMISE

A tagline should communicate your direction in a few clear words. Your brand promise explains what people can reasonably expect from you; avoid guaranteed income or results claims.

Assignment: Write three taglines and a one-sentence brand promise. Ask which version is easiest to understand.

LESSON 4 • PICK YOUR COLORS AND FONTS

Choose two or three complementary colors and one or two readable fonts. Think about contrast and readability on mobile screens. Keep a simple reference sheet with color codes and font names.

Assignment: Pick a primary color, accent color, background color, and heading/body font pairing.

LESSON 5 • PLAN A SIMPLE LOGO

A strong logo is recognizable at small sizes. Start with a clear wordmark or simple symbol, then test it on light and dark backgrounds. Avoid copying existing brands or using graphics without proper rights.

Assignment: Sketch two logo concepts and write why each fits your brand. You can use an optional design tool to produce drafts.

LESSON 6 • WRITE YOUR BRAND VOICE

Decide how your business sounds: helpful, confident, playful, calm, or another combination. Use the same voice across posts, pages, and customer messages while adapting to the audience.

Assignment: Write a three-sentence About Me description and one welcome message in your own voice.

LESSON 7 • CREATE A CONSISTENT ONLINE PRESENCE

Use a consistent profile image, short bio, contact information, and visual style across your website and social accounts. Keep claims accurate and disclose relevant affiliate or sponsored relationships.

Assignment: Draft a profile bio and create a checklist for updating your website and two social profiles.

LESSON 8 • BUILD YOUR BRAND STYLE GUIDE

Collect your chosen name, tagline, audience, colors, fonts, logo guidance, and writing style into a one-page reference. Revisit it as you learn more about your customers.

Assignment: Complete a one-page brand guide and review it for clarity and consistency.

FINAL PROJECT • YOUR BRAND STARTER KIT

Save a brand starter kit with your proposed business name, audience statement, tagline, three brand colors, logo sketch, short bio, and one-page style guide.

Check legal name and trademark availability independently before investing in a brand launch.
