AFFILIATE MARKETING: BUILD TRUST, SHARE VALUE
Free, self-guided training • Learn the basics of affiliate marketing, evaluate offers, create useful recommendations, and measure results responsibly. This course does not enroll you in affiliate programs or promise earnings.
LESSON 1 • HOW AFFILIATE MARKETING WORKS
An affiliate shares a unique referral link to a product or service. When a qualifying action happens, the affiliate may receive a commission under the program's terms. Programs differ in eligibility, attribution, payment schedules, and restrictions.
Assignment: Explain the roles of the customer, merchant, affiliate, and tracking link in your own words.
LESSON 2 • CHOOSE AN AUDIENCE AND NICHE
Start with a group you understand and problems you can genuinely help solve. A focused niche makes recommendations more relevant than promoting unrelated products.
Assignment: Write your audience statement and list five common questions they ask.
LESSON 3 • RESEARCH AFFILIATE PROGRAMS
Review the merchant's reputation, product quality, eligibility, commission rules, cookie or attribution windows, payout thresholds, refund policies, and marketing restrictions. Read program terms before applying.
Assignment: Make a comparison sheet for two programs, leaving unknown details blank until verified.
LESSON 4 • CHOOSE PRODUCTS RESPONSIBLY
Recommend products that fit your audience and that you can accurately describe. Separate first-hand experience from research. Avoid unsupported performance, health, or income claims and do not invent reviews.
Assignment: Write three reasons a product may fit your audience and two limitations worth mentioning.
LESSON 5 • CREATE HELPFUL AFFILIATE CONTENT
Try educational tutorials, honest comparisons, beginner guides, or demonstrations. Explain who the product is for, what it does, its limitations, and how readers can learn more. Focus on useful information before links.
Assignment: Draft a 150-word review or a 30-second video script with one balanced recommendation.
LESSON 6 • DISCLOSE YOUR AFFILIATE RELATIONSHIP
When you may earn a commission, make that relationship clear and easy to notice near the recommendation or link. For example: “I may earn a commission if you buy through this link, at no additional cost to you.” Adapt disclosures to the actual arrangement and applicable rules. Platform disclosure tools may not replace a clear disclosure in your content.
Assignment: Write a truthful disclosure for a social post, video, and website review.
LESSON 7 • SHARE LINKS WITHOUT SPAM
Follow each program's and platform's rules about links, email, paid ads, trademarks, and direct messaging. Use accurate descriptions and avoid pressure, fake urgency, or unsolicited bulk messages.
Assignment: Plan one helpful post with a clearly disclosed link and a respectful call to action.
LESSON 8 • TRACK RESULTS AND IMPROVE
Where the program provides data, review clicks, qualifying conversions, refunds, commissions, and payment status. Do not assume clicks equal sales or commissions equal profit. Consider time, fees, and other costs.
Assignment: Create a weekly tracking sheet with content published, link clicks, verified conversions, commissions, and lessons learned.
FINAL PROJECT • YOUR AFFILIATE MARKETING PLAN
Save a one-page plan containing your audience, one researched program, a product evaluation, one original piece of content, a clear affiliate disclosure, and a tracking checklist.
Results vary; participation and commissions depend on each program's terms and customer activity.
